Dear Bitunix Users,
Recently, we have received reports from some users regarding abnormal situations during the deposit process. After a comprehensive investigation by our technical and risk control teams, we have confirmed that this is not caused by system malfunctions or normal network delays, but rather a new type of scam targeting users. The details are as follows:
Upon verification, these cases are not related to any technical issues, blockchain congestion, or standard incorrect deposits, but instead involve a fraud scheme designed by exploiting blockchain mechanisms. In this incident, the Bitunix platform name and address format were maliciously misused by third parties, and the affected assets did not enter Bitunix systems or wallets.
Scam Method Overview
Based on our analysis, the perpetrators exploited differences between blockchain mechanisms to design a misleading process. The key characteristics are as follows:
- Exploitation of Address Mechanism Differences
Some blockchains (such as BTS) allow customizable account names, while others (such as INJ) use fixed-format addresses.
- Name Impersonation
Scammers register account names on customizable chains that resemble or exactly match address formats on other chains, creating visual confusion.
- Misleading Instructions
Through social media, messaging groups, or other channels, users are guided to withdraw assets to mismatched blockchain addresses under the pretense of “cross-chain arbitrage.”
- Completion of Asset Transfer
Since the withdrawal platform can recognize the registered account on the corresponding chain, the transaction is processed successfully, but the assets are actually transferred to addresses controlled by scammers.
Risk Reminder
Bitunix hereby reminds all users:
- Bitunix does not support BTS tokens or any deposits via the BTS (BitShares) network
- Do not transfer assets from non-matching networks to deposit addresses
- So-called “cross-chain arbitrage” schemes are often high-risk or fraudulent
- Please ensure that the token and network match exactly for all deposits. If a Memo is required, make sure both the deposit address and Memo are obtained from official Bitunix website or application and fully match the selected token and network; otherwise, your assets may be permanently lost
Platform Statement
- Bitunix only supports and guarantees deposits made via correct tokens and corresponding networks
- For losses caused by user actions based on third-party information or external scams, Bitunix is unable to recover funds or provide compensation
- The platform will continue to cooperate with relevant security parties and further enhance risk control and warning mechanisms
Security Recommendations
To protect your assets, we strongly recommend:
- Obtain deposit addresses only through official channels (website or App)
- Remain cautious of any “arbitrage,” “high-return,” or “cross-chain” claims
- Do not trust instructions from unofficial communities or unknown sources
- If you encounter suspicious activity, retain transaction records and report to your local law enforcement authorities
Bitunix remains committed to safeguarding user assets and will continue to strengthen security measures and risk awareness. Thank you for your understanding and support.
