The Account Synchronization function recently added to Google Authenticator(starting from Google Authenticator 6.0 on Android, and Google Authenticator 4.0 on iOS) allows the backup of the authenticator by synchronizing users' Google verification code to the existing Google account. However, it has been confirmed that this code has not been end-to-end encrypted, which may pose a potential account and asset security risk to users who had it on.
Therefore, if you use Google Authenticator for 2FA verification, we strongly recommend that you disable the "Account Synchronization" feature of Google Authenticator. iOS and Android users can refer to the following actions:
If you are using Google Authenticator with a Google account:
Open Google Authenticator, click your avatar in the upper right corner - [Use without an account] - [Continue] to turn off the "Account Synchronization" function of Google Authenticator.
If you are using Google Authenticator without a Google account:
At this time, the "Account Synchronization" is turned off and you do not need to operate it again.
